105,000 children in Utah live in poverty

Recently, the Census revealed that one in five children in America now lives in poverty.  This weekend, Voices member Voices for Utah Children offered a great piece on the rising child poverty in that state.

There are now 105,000 children in Utah living in poverty, up 17,000 from the year before.  Voices for Utah Children asks, “What if child poverty were front and center every time you booted up your search engine, and updates on what was happening each day in the life of poor children were scrolled across our TV sets and were the top stories each night on our evening news. Would the lives of these children and their families suddenly become real to us, would we want to know more and keep the issue in the forefront of our psyche?”
