Annie E. Casey Foundation: Gains in child well-being “stagnating”

New data from the Annie E. Casey Foundation shows that America is struggling to provide a better life for the next generation. The Foundation has unveiled its vital Kids Count Data Book for 2011, tracking child well-being through a number of important indicators like child poverty, infant mortality and teen birth rate.

The news isn’t encouraging. Since 200, the child poverty rate has increased 18 percent. This is especially depressing considering that from 1994 to 2000 we managed to decrease child poverty by nearly 30 percent. Learn more in this great NPR newscast, with Annie E.
