Around 100,000 youngsters in VA may struggle with “serious emotional disturbance”

A new report just released by our member Voices for Virginia’s Children suggests that many more children in that state suffer from emotional disturbances than you might guess. According to the report, titled “Children’s Mental Health in Virginia: System Deficiencies and Unknown Outcomes,” between 85,000 and 105,000 Virginia children and teens could be be afflicted with a serious mental issue.

While some Virginia communities offer children comprehensive mental health services, many more do not. And shortages of those services could put even more children in danger. Check out the Voices for Viriginia’s Children report online and befriend them on Facebook to find out how you can help.

I just read an article regarding a VA couple who were arrested for keeping their handicapped child in a cage, a lttle girl with Downs , she was found eating her own skin from hunger . The police also found the remains of a child buried on there property. I am horrified and outraged, I hope this couple is caged till they die!!!
