Childhood stress linked to adult health problems

A number of studies suggest a connection between childhood stress and health problems such as heart disease, the BBC reports today. The studies imply that poor children face tougher odds not only in their education and careers, but also in health.

“In one study, researchers from the University of Pittsburgh looked at the relationship between living in poverty and early signs of heart disease in 200 healthy teenagers. They found that those from the worst-off families had stiffer arteries and higher blood pressure.”
