New Mexico ranked near bottom for child well-being

New Mexico Voices for Children, one of our member organizations, reported recently that their state’s ranking for child well-being has dropped to 46th place.  The ranking comes from the 2010 KIDS COUNT report, sponsored by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and is based on indicators such as child poverty, birth-weight and teen deaths.  New Mexico most troubling indicators were teen birth rate, teen death rate and percentage of children in single parent families.
