Payroll tax cut fight may be over soon

Word comes from Congress that an agreement on the payroll tax cut may be reached soon. The tax cut, meant to stimulate the still sputtering economy, is due to expire this month, in effect raising workers’ taxes a bit. Voices supports extending the payroll tax, so the news that the House won’t obstruct extension is heartening. Jobless benefits will likely be extended as well, and the Medicare reimbursement rate increased.

Voices was at a meeting with President Obama today in which the administration featured stories of ordinary Americans who’ve been helped by the payroll tax cut. In a briefing room for policy advocates, Obama made the case that failing to extend the payroll tax cut would cost a family making $50,000 a year about $40 from each paycheck. Way OT!FYI I saw where the Reverend Satan’ Phelps, of the Westboro Baptist Church and his evil and stupid inbuci and sucubi, but no gayubi, minions will be protesting at Elizabethe Edwards funeral in Raleigh, NC today. You see, according to Satan’ Phelps, her son died because she and John support gay rights. And that was also the reason she died so young.I wish I still lived In Fayetteville, NC, because I’d gladly travel 4 hours round-trip to be there to help heckle and ridicule them. I’m hoping that the motorcycle group that frequently shows up to help drown out their idiocy are there in full force. And, though I’m generally against vandalism, a few slashed tires and some molasses in the old gas tanks might not only help boost up my Holiday spirit, but reinforce my belief in Karma. Nasty, of me, I know. Oh well
