Pediatrician to head Medicare, Medicaid

Voices is very pleased that for the first time a pediatrician has been appointed to head Medicare and Medicaid.  The Obama administration’s recess appointment of Donald Berwick, MD, MPP, to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will ensure that health policy keeps kids in mind.

The post is an office in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that administers Medicare, Medicaid and other public services important to the young, like the Children’s Health Insurance Program.  Voices was one of more than 130 organizations to endorse Berwick’s appointment last month.  Read our children’s health page to learn more about how health policy affects the lives of America’s children.
