Show you support kids!
I am writing in support of programs that close the achievement gap in education in America. The next generation is much more racially diverse than adults now, and signals a more colorful America to come. In fact, The Pew Research Center estimates that by 2050 white people will be in the minority. But unfortunately, America keeps leaving a lot of children of color behind. New test score data on 4th grade reading from the Department of Education shows that the achievement gap continues for Black and Hispanic students. More must be done for these kids. As Congress looks for budget cuts, I am writing to urge continued investment in programs that help address the achievement gap, like early care and education programs, reading programs, and other efforts that give all kids a shot.
